DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Hundreds of Greyhound passengers are stranded in Dallas. Some have been stuck at the station for three days. “We had two days in Mississippi, two days here,” said Shawn Westmoreland, who is from Florida. “It’s been insanity.”

Westmoreland is trying to get to California. He says no one has been able to tell him anything.

“We left New Orleans on Monday,” said Lee Sorsby from England. He’s traveling across America and has been stuck from one Greyhound station to another. “It was literally a pit stop to get to Grand Canyon,” explained Sorsby.

Dallas Police said that the travelers are stranded because the roads in some areas are still too icy. So far they’ve counted up to 250 passengers stranded, and three more buses are on their way with another 250 travelers.

“We do have buses leaving, however, we have more buses coming in,” said Lt. Anthony Williams with the Dallas Police Department.

The police department has been working with Victim Relief Ministries and The Salvation Army which, at about 9 p.m. Thursday night, started feeding travelers. Cots and blankets are on their way now. “The priority tonight is to make sure these people are warm, comfortable, and their physical needs are met,” explained Gene Grounds with Victim Relief Ministries.

All the passengers want is to head out of Dallas and go home. “I’m seeing if I can make it to my destination,” said Westmoreland.

“We are trying to re-route as many people as possible,” said Maureen Richmond with Greyhound. “We’ve also brought in a few extra buses for people to go sleep in.”

If you are traveling on Greyhound, you can call them at (800) 231-2222 or check their website to see the status of your trip before you leave for the bus station.
